What we do
Glacier Helicopters offers a range of scenic helicopter flights from 20 minutes to 40 minutes. Flights depart from Franz Josef Glacier and Fox Glacier.

Our flights encompass the Fox Glacier and Franz Josef Glaciers and Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park. Glacier landings are our speciality. Not only do we offer spectacular scenic helicopter flights but also the Heli Hike on either the Franz Josef or Fox Glacier Glaciers - combining the excitement of walking on the glacier with the thrill of two helicopter flights. Charter flights are also available and can vary from 20 minutes to several hours duration.

Our helicopter flights allow people with limited time to "get away from it all" and experience areas of New Zealand's wilderness renowned for its outstanding natural beauty.

Our helicopter bases are centrally located and complimentary pick up and drop off transfers are available if required.

Glacier Helicopters pioneered glacier and snow landings in New Zealand in 1970. Since then it has provided exceptional alpine experiences, enabling thousands of visitors to interact and enjoy some of the most spectacular wonders of the natural world.

At Glacier Helicopters we operate a fleet of modern, four and six seater turbine helicopters, serviced and maintained to ensure maximum passenger safety and comfort. All our maintenance procedures comply with New Zealand Civil Aviation safety standards.

All pilots hold a Commercial Helicopter Pilot Licence and are regularly subjected to stringent performance checks to meet New Zealand CAA Part 135 requirements.

We are a CAA Approved Operator.
